ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Meet Your Founder: A Heart for Healing Animals.

Hello, my name is Erica Forrester and I am the founder of Companion Animal Rehab. Thank you for visiting our page! This business began as a dream of mine. I have always had a love for animals and for being active and wanted to find a way to combine both of them. I received my Bachelors of Science at Radford University, then I proceeded with my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Emory and Henry School of Health Sciences. While a student, my mother’s dog had a hip injury that resulted in a FHO surgery. It was recommended her dog have physical therapy and my interest sparked in the thought of that, not knowing it existed at the time. I spent time researching about becoming certified to do rehabilitation with animals while I finished PT school. Right after I became a Doctor of Physical Therapy I began classes both online and in person to receive my certification to be a Certified Companion Animal Rehabilitation Therapist. This certification took longer than expected due to several life events including beginning a full time job, getting married, moving, having a baby, etc. I am happy to say that my dreams are finally becoming a reality and I can make the lives of animals better. Just like it is with humans, animals’ bodies do not hold up as well with aging and injury and they deserve to be able to recover with rehab like we do, or at least improve their quality of life.
